When it comes to natural disasters we know the serious consequences are not a joke. Fires, floods and earthquakes can cause tremendous damage in a short period of time and leave people in desperation. Unfortunately natural disaster strategies are consistently undeveloped, and need to be improved. Here is a simple way to help protect your community from the devastation of a natural disaster.
Be Proactive: Our basic needs as humans can be fulfilled by two things: food and shelter. Both can be adequately prepared well ahead of a natural disaster and with little effort.
Food: Keep an emergency kit and supply of food somewhere in your house. These kits are relatively inexpensive and can be a life saver if you are ever caught in a natural disaster.
Shelter: If you couldn't access you home at the end of the day where would you go? Have an emergency response plan in place for your friends and family. Having everyone on the same page in the event of a natural disaster can help relieve some of the stress. If you are ever split up you can be sure everyone knows where you will be going in order to be reconnected.
Being prepared for the unpredictable can be difficult and hard to handle if you don't have a strategy in place. Proactive strategies like the ones above are a great way to ensure you are your loved ones are safe during a natural disaster. Set aside one hour to plan and prepare, you never know when it might come in handy.
